There is a glaring omission in this film though: whatever happened to the first housekeeper's body?

  48. Bernadette Dixon

    Bernadette DixonPäivä sitten

@Vivy-kun Or why the police didn't do their job properly and search for an original blueprint of the house which would show the secret basement.

  49. Vivy-kun

    Vivy-kunPäivä sitten

@Bernadette Dixon no worries. Btw the scene starts at 2:02:15 in the film. He says something like "thanks to the house being empty, I was able to give her a proper send off. I hear tree-side burials are trendy, I did my best." I was also wondering how the neighbours never noticed him, but then I realized that the house was built higher than the neighbourhood ( further emphasising their "high" class).

  50. Bernadette Dixon

    Bernadette DixonPäivä sitten

@Vivy-kun I'll check again, might have had different subtitles that didn't include that in the print I watched. In any case the director should have shown how he managed to do that without being spotted by neighbors or police, or not leaving any noticeable gravesite behind. She was a heavy woman, it wasn't like burying a dead pet bird.

  51. Vivy-kun

    Vivy-kunPäivä sitten

@Bernadette Dixon do you recall the scene where the father sends a letter through Morse code and his son deciphers it? If I remember correctly, he mentioned in the letter that when the Park family had moved out, he had buried the housekeeper's body in the garden beside a tree.

This is such a great movie. But it's not surprising 'cause there's actually so many amazing korean films. Examples are Old boy, My Sassy Girl, Sunny and so many more. I'm not a film expert but I like watching and researching highly recognized movies and it's safe to say that korean films are really up there in the list. Like what Bong Joon Ho said try to pass the language barrier and watch more foreign films, I'm pretty sure you'll see a whole new world of cinema.
